A Honey Jar Ritual Spell

Honey Jar Spell Ritual
Honey Jar Spell Ritual

What is a honey jar? It is a fantastic tool to attract and bring something “sweet” towards you...like a bee to honey. A honey jar ritual spell can be a great way to manifest a job opportunity, a financial windfall, a person, a legal victory, a successful pursuit, an offer of acceptance or approval (for example, a loan application), or a “Win” of some sort. If you are looking to smooth things over with someone or just wish to have people and life (in general) be sweet towards you...look no further than a honey jar ritual.

I mean, is there anything sweeter than honey? Did you know that it will take 12 worker bees the totality of their entire lifespan to produce one teaspoon of honey?! That is pretty incredible and it’s an honor to be able to utilize such a precious elixir of sweetness that these incredible bee-ings put their heart and souls into producing. Needless to say, it’s pretty potent, magickal stuff.

There are many ways you can prepare and execute a honey jar ritual. Over the years, I have experimented and tried several methods, tweaking and blending, and found what works best for me which I will share with you.

However, I encourage you to experiment and find what will work best for you! It is always good to research and see what’s out there. Do a Google search for “Honey Jar Spell” and you will have loads of options pop up. Check out what others are doing and see if their methods speak to you...or sparks inspiration within you. I find that doing this, along with mixing and blending methods can yield fruitful results.

Of note, “ritual” denotes the symbolic steps of preparation (the action of assembling the jar), the “spell” is the incantation or words you speak to bring in your desired intention/ manifestation. Both ritual and spell work hand-in-hand and are very potent in bringing about your desired wish.

Here are the items you will need:

  • Jar:

This can be any size. You can purchase a new jar or use what you have on hand. Using what you have on hand can be very cost effective and convenient. For example, did you just finish a jar of capers? Clean it, remove any labels and you’ve got a jar! You get the idea...

  • Honey:

I recommend reading the label to ensure the sole ingredient is indeed bee’s honey. Many commercial brands often contain high fructose corn syrup, cane sugar, other added artificial sugars/fillers/colors, etc. We want pure, natural honey!

**On a side note, some people perform this ritual using a jar with sugar dissolved in water. They tend to believe it works “faster”. I have tried this method and did not find it effective at all. You can try it and see if you get results. However, in my personal opinion (based on trial and error)...honey is your best bet! It is potent and not “slow to work” as one may think.

  • Paper:

A square piece of paper. The type of paper can be as fancy or plain as you wish. Remember, your energy and power behind your intention is always what counts the most in any ritual/spell, not the aesthetics per se. To make the paper square you can cut it with scissors or do the triangle-fold method to create a square.

  • Pen:

Any color will suffice. If you are feeling a little extra...you can coordinate with your intention. For example, if you wish to bring in money, use a pen with green ink. Wanting to bring in Love, use red ink. But again, the power behind your intention is the main magick.

  • Candle (and matches):

Ideally, you want to use a candle that’s on the smaller side (like a chime/spell candle), but that will also depend on the size of jar you use. Votive candles are also a great option! I like to light a votive on top of the jar, let it melt a bit and then pour the pooled wax over the jar to seal it.

You can match the candle color with the intention: Red or Pink (love/romance), Brown (Justice), Purple (power), Green (money/abundance/job), Yellow (success/ approval/victory), Blue (communication), etc. You can even mix and match, for example brown and yellow for a legal victory. Be creative and have fun!! White is always a good option too, as it is neutral and will evoke any intention you put towards it. For this reason, I always like to keep a stash of white candles (in various sizes) on hand at all times in my candle box.

  • Fire Safe Dish

You will need to place your jar on this while burning the candle. Wax can (and will) drip over the sides of the jar, a dish will catch it and protect your surfaces from wax and heat.

  • Supportive Herbs/Oils/Crystals (completely optional)

If you like to incorporate supporting herbs/oils into your rituals, you can definitely do this! Of course, it is optional. You can include them in your folded paper, dress the candle with them, sprinkle on the dish around the jar...use them any way you like!! Be creative and do what feels best for you!

Alright, once you’ve gathered your supplies...onward to the ritual!

  1. Get your empty jar ready. Some people like to “cleanse” their jar and instill it with good energy. I personally never do this, but it is an option I will share. You can “smudge” your empty jar with incense, palo santo, or sage. Or you can spritz a bit of Florida water into your jar and wipe it clean with a cloth. As you do these methods you can incantate “I cleanse this jar and remove any and all negativity, infusing it with love and positive energy.” Or say any incantation you like.

  2. Next, take your paper and write down your desire/intention that you wish to bring towards you. For instance, if you are manifesting a job consider something like: “I have received the position of my dreams that brings me immense professional and personal rewards. It pays me well and facilitates growth and prosperity in my life. I feel happy and supported in my work environment. It only gets better from here, my thanks to Spirit for this blessing!”. Of course, you can input a specific company/job position if you like. The beauty of any spell is that it can be as general or specific as you like.

I want to impart on you that this works best if you don’t overthink it and just put it into your own words. It doesn’t have to be lyrical or rhyme (unless you want it to). Your energy, feeling, and intention behind the words you write is the most important thing here! So be free with it and do what intuitively feels best for you.

  1. Look at the paper and speak aloud (with conviction) what you have written. Speak this 3 times. After the third time, fold the paper into a small square (rotating it to pull the folds towards you). **If you are using supporting herbs/oils/crystals, place them onto the paper before you fold it so they can be folded in as well.

  2. Next, you will pour the honey into the jar (just shy of filling it to the top, as the paper will go into the jar). As you do this, you can say an incantation if you like or just visualize your intention coming to fruition. Some people will ingest a spoonful of the honey as part of their ritual. If you are not able to do this (diabetic, vegan, strict keto, etc.) don’t worry, it is not pertinent and will not negatively impact your results. Place the folded paper into the jar and top it off with honey of need be. Close the lid.

  3. Then, place the jar onto your fire safe dish. If you are adding supportive herbs or crystals, go ahead and place them around your jar.

  4. Now it’s time for the addition of your candle. This will call powerful energy to your ritual and send it out into the Universe. It will seal the jar, infusing it with your intention. If you wish to dress your candle, do so. You can dab some ritual oil on your finger and rub it onto the candle and then sprinkle the candle with herbs. If using a chime/spell candle, light a match, wave it under the bottom of the candle (holding the candle over the jar) and melt it a bit, while still hot, plant it onto the top of the jar so it is standing upright (and secured with wax). Always use fire safety precautions. If using a votive, set it on top of the jar.

  5. You will light the candle, visualize your intention and speak it out loud with conviction. I usually speak (or incantate) my intention 3 times. Leave the candle alight and let it burn completely (never leaving it unattended, of course). When it has gone out, the spell is complete. You can keep the jar on your altar space, place it in a cupboard, or store it anywhere you like.

All you need to do now is keep taking inspired action in the physical world and maintain a positive mindset, belief in knowing that your intention has already manifested. Resist the urge to “check-in” with Spirit to see where it is, when it will happen, etc. You just need to surrender and trust. You have just placed a Divine order, have complete faith that it will be delivered. Let Spirit take care of the details, you just need to be ready to receive.

What to do with the honey jar when you no longer need it?

You can bury it, toss it in the trash (first thanking Spirit and the bees for their blessing), or you can re-use it (remove the previous paper and replace with a new intention/petition paper and candle). It’s completely up to you!!

You might be wondering why I don’t include specific incantations and guidelines to use...that is because I believe independence and your personal intuition is key. Taking the main idea and putting your own spin on it! It’s authentic and it’s YOU!

When it comes to rituals/spells, I personally often “wing it” and pull it “off the cuff”. Each ritual/spell is individual, and I let my intuition and energy guide me. So, take the main ideas and don’t focus too much on following a strict “procedure”, keep it light and focus on the power/conviction behind your intention, visualization, your flow and creativity...infuse your ritual/spell work with your unique touch and personal essence. When you do this, you can’t go wrong!!

I hope this was informative and inspired you to create a honey jar ritual spell! Remember, you are deserving of all good things!
